Who We Are…

We are a small company with a big difference. Starting on the 1st of July 2015 as a husband and wife team, with the support of past and present clients and friendships within the industry, we have grown to employ a great team of ever-growing passionate staff. In the first two years, we have completed over 160 events. Fast forward to today and we still love events – the relationship with our clients, creating the idea of the event and then seeing it come to life with the guests enjoying the experience, the pressure of deadlines, finding solutions to challenges along the planning path, and the collaboration with our vendors, and the amazing team that is Absolute Weddings and Events Mackay.

Tegan Johns – Director (the heart and soul of Absolute Weddings & Events)

A few years back I was at home with my 3 little baby girls and knew it was time to get back to work but this time I was going to do something I love, I’ve always been a creative, hardworking, passionate & caring person and my family and friends have always said that “one day you will be a party planner as you just love celebrations too much” thing is, it was the creating, planning, challenges and watching guests enjoy what I created that I enjoyed most about it all so in my time off I got together a business plan done loads of courses, read loads of books, spent every dollar to my name getting a few things I needed for a start. done a few events for family and friends then I was ready, ready to show the world that I meant business and I was going to make events for people that they will treasure forever.

Every day I am thankful that I get to do something I am truly passionate about, every day I love meeting new people creating new friends & working with an amazing team, every day I get to spend quality time with my dear husband that brings a lot to this company “and occasionally my oldest girl gets to learn the ropes”, and every day I get to put pieces of an event puzzle together until it all falls into place on the day.

Hi and Welcome

I, along with my wife Tegan and our team, wish to make your event stress free whether it be a wedding, birthday party, engagement party, or even a corporate function. We pride ourselves in being able to source out anything you wish for your event no matter how strange (yes we have been asked for some strange things) and if we can’t find it we will build it (steel, wood, bamboo or fabric) if we can’t find it or build it, it can’t be found. Over the years I have gained expertise in things she would rather not do (heights). My absolute favourite part is when the team comes together and makes the client’s vision a reality – something that started out as basic as a feeling or a look that we made come to life.

Megan Jakson– Moranbah Wedding Planning

Hello everyone. My name is Megan and I live in the small mining town of Moranbah with my partner and our two small children. We are a family who loves to travel, and over the years have already seen many parts of Asia. I became interested in the Wedding and Event Planning Business after planning a few events for family and friends for fun. With support from loved ones, I completed my studies in Wedding and Event Planning back in 2016. Since then, I have loved everything that involves being creative, pushing the boundaries to make events look their absolute best, and the challenges that come with it all. I can honestly say that I am so passionate about this industry and will always go above and beyond to make sure I create beautiful memories that last a lifetime. The happiness and enjoyment of my clients is what makes what I do for work, that so much better. Let me create you some special moments for yourself also.

The Production Team

Our production team is our backbone, our behind-the-scene heroes. They are responsible for setting up the event space down to the last detail. And breaking it all down post-event. They make our events happen. They break nails, they carry the heavy stuff down 600m of sand, they put every ounce of effort blood and sweat into making every event magical. And they do it all because they too love that they are making people happy with all their hard work.

Hanna Groves – Our Graphic Designer

Hanna is a Graphic Designer by trade but loves all things digital. From editing photos, creating unique invitations and stationery to recreating a design from a photo, Hanna will have you covered. Invitations, stationery, cards, wall art, backdrops, stickers, posters and anything else in between. No project is too small or too large and Hanna can design work that suits weddings, birthdays, any special occasions to corporate events and functions.

We know how precious your time is so we have made it our mission to take care of just about everything all in the one spot offering full-service wedding & event planning, decorating, a huge range of hire equipment” including tables, chairs & catering equipment”, lolly buffets, event children’s activity’s & event child care, customised and personalised items, flower arrangements and the list goes on.

We understand that events are not always kind on your pockets, we do not believe that celebrating personal or professional occasions have to cost you an arm or leg we treat every event the same and work with your individual budget. We are always reviewing our pricing to ensure it provides you with the best value for money.

We pride ourselves in offering quality service and products, we know that you need both, you are important to us, every decoration set up is done by our well-trained team. To maintain quality control, we check that everything that goes out and comes back is in good order, everything electrical is tested and tagged and our team is always well presented complete with a smile.

Our commitment to flexibility…

We are prepared to work out of office hours if no other option to meet with you, chat by phone with you and do setups, we are reachable by phone (at a reasonable hour) and we check our Facebook and email consistently, we are happy for you to make alterations after your deposit has been paid “let’s be honest guest’s numbers are always changing”& we are able to arrange payment plans for you to lighten the load.

We have great respect for our fellow vendors, we worked hard to maintain a strong and reliable network of contacts, within both the industry and the local community. These allow us to occasionally deliver the “impossible “for our clients. We do not discuss other vendors work or issues we will not partake in slander or rumours of any sort we believe this is unprofessional and not needed in any industry

Brilliant service! Nothing was a problem from the first meeting. A one shop wedding decorating shop, they have everything! Rather than using 3-4 suppliers, absolute weddings did it all, and their prices are very competitive. Communication was quick and easy. The job they did at our ceremony and reception spaces was perfect. Rather than just stringing up some lights they really went to extraordinary lengths to ensure they looked just right by using wire to keep it safe and effective. We were married on the 6/6/15 and used Absolute Weddings and Events as we had 4 months to plan our wedding and a tight budget to stick to. They took our ideas for our wedding and completely blew our minds with what they came up with! People are still talking about our wedding 18 months later and I still get random messages from people who have heard about it or seen photos from it asking where different pieces and aspects came from and I always send them straight to Mick and Tegan. We had a small budget wedding and no one would ever believe it! From the decorations to the tables and down to the knives and forks, Absolute Weddings and Events handled everything and took all the stress away which is exactly what I needed being a mum of 3 with a newborn and a hubby who works away. I will recommend this business and these people till the day I die, will GAURANTEE you will not find better, not in Mackay or any other city anywhere.
