Who We Are…

We are a small company with a big difference. Starting on the 14th of July 2014 as a husband-and-wife team, with the support of past and present clients and friendships within the industry, we have grown to employ a great team of passionate staff. In the first two years, we had completed over 160 events and changed from a business to a company. Fast forward to today and we still love events – the relationship with our clients, creating the idea of the event and then seeing it come to life with the guests enjoying the experience, the pressure of deadlines, finding solutions to challenges along the planning path, and the collaboration with vendor partners, and the amazing team that is Absolute Weddings and Events Mackay.

Thank you for taking the time to check out our site.

Back in 2014 I was at home with my young daughters after a long day’s work and realised it was time to do more and be more for my little family. This time I was going to do something I love, I’ve always been a creative, hardworking, passionate & caring person, my family and friends have always said that “one day you will be a party planner as you just love celebrations too much” thing is, it was the creating, planning, challenges and watching guests enjoy what I created that I enjoyed most about it all so in my time off I got together a business plan done loads of courses, read loads and spent every dollar to my name getting a few things together that I needed for a start.

I then done a few events for family and friends until I was ready, ready to show the world that I meant business and I was going to make events for people that they will treasure forever.

Every day, I get to indulge myself in one of my favourite tasks of putting pieces of an even puzzle together until it falls into place on the day and Every day, I get to work for amazing clients alongside our dream team staff and my wonderful jack of all trades husband since 2012 but been together for way longer and occasionally one or more of our 5 beautiful children who may one day continue with the family business.

Fun fact, Family and events are our world. Our last born, finally a son after having 4 beautiful daughters, was actually born the same day as a massive wedding set up and on the way to my oldest daughters' gymnastics competition in Yeppoon 4hours away, truth is I refused to miss any of these 3 events so I didn't, all 3 went ahead my son arrived happy and healthy, the wedding was spectacular and got so many compliments, my oldest daughter not only helped me deliver her brother but won the gymnastics comp & my other 3 daughters & husband had a mini family holiday in Yeppoon before we all came back to town the next day to pack the wedding down and start on the next event.

Hi and Welcome

I, along with my wife Tegan and our team, wish to make your event stress free whether it be a wedding, birthday party, engagement party, or even a corporate function. We pride ourselves in being able to source out anything you wish for your event no matter how strange (yes we have been asked for some strange things) and if we can’t find it we will build it (steel, wood, bamboo, or fabric) if we can’t find it or build it, it can’t be found. Over the years I have gained expertise in things she would rather not do (heights). My absolute favourite part is when the team comes together and makes the client’s vision a reality – something that started out as basic as a feeling or a look that we made come to life.

Our production team is our backbone, our behind-the-scenes heroes. They are responsible for setting up the event space down to the last detail. And breaking it all down post-event. They make our events happen. They break nails, they carry the heavy stuff, they climb the high stuff, they put every ounce of effort into making every event magical. And they do it all because they too love that they are making people happy with all their hard work.

My name is Megan and I live in the small mining town of Moranbah with my partner and our two small children. We are a family who loves to travel, and over the years have already seen many parts of Asia. I became interested in the Wedding and Event Planning Business after planning a few events for family and friends for fun. With support from loved ones, I completed my studies in Wedding and Event Planning back in 2016. Since then, I have loved everything that involves being creative, pushing the boundaries to make events look their absolute best, and the challenges that come with it all. I can honestly say that I am so passionate about this industry and will always go above and beyond to make sure I create beautiful memories that last a lifetime. The happiness and enjoyment of my clients is what makes what I do for work, that so much better. Let me create you some special moments for yourself also.

To maintain quality control, we check that everything that goes out and comes back is in good order, everything electrical is tested and tagged and our team is always well presented complete with a smile.

We are prepared to work out of office hours if no other option to meet with you, chat by phone with you and do setups, we are reachable by phone (at a reasonable hour) and we check our Facebook and email consistently, we are happy for you to make alterations after your deposit has been paid “let’s be honest guest’s numbers are always changing”& we are able to arrange payment plans for you to lighten the load.

The Office/Warehouse:

We are currently located in a big shed at 15 thirteenth lane Mackay. unfortunately, due to our mammoth amount of stock we have run out of room for a showroom, so we don’t have any stock out on display its all cleaned off wrapped or boxed up then placed up to the ceiling on shelving awaiting the next event. We do have a small office located at the back of the shed however it normally gets filled with stocktake or used as sorting/prep area, so we try to do all our in-person meetings at local cafes or at venues that your event is being held whenever the office is being used.
